Things to know before deleting your Gmail account:
1. You have many accounts associated with your Gmail account, so you may lose a lot of data when you delete your Gmail account.
2. All services such as Drive, Calendar and all data associated with your account (emails, photos, notes, etc.) will be permanently deleted.
3. If you have purchased any content or subscriptions from Gmail related accounts such as YouTube , Google play Movies,Music, etc., it will be permanently deleted.
4. If you are an Android phone user, you will lose access to all contacts and backup data saved through the Android phone service associated with this account.

When you delete your Gmail account, you also permanently lose the username you created when you first logged into your account. 
If you delete your account, you will not be able to create any accounts with the same username in the future.

Things to do before deleting your Gmail account:

Delete Gmail account:
Open the mailbox:
1. Type www.gmail.com into the address bar at the top of your preferred web browser and press “Enter” and you will be navigated to the Gmail dashboard at https://www.gmail.com/ .
2. If you are not logged into your Gmail account, you will need to enter your registered email address or phone number and password to “log in” to your account.
3. If you have forgotten your password, click the Forgot Password option below the Password tab to reset your account password.

Click on the grid icon:
Once logged into your Gmail account, click the grid icon next to the Support icon in the upper right corner of your Gmail dashboard.

Choose an account option:
If you click on the “Grid” icon, a popup tab will appear with a list of options where you need to select the account option in the first position on the first row of the popup tab.

Click Data and Personalization:
From the Account option, you will be navigated to a new page where you will find a row with a list of options on the left side of the page. 
You need to scroll down and click on the Data and Personalization option located above the Security option.

Click to delete a service or your account:
From the Data and Personalization icon, you need to scroll down and click on the Delete service or your account option.
Before going through the account deactivation process, make sure you have downloaded your valuable data, as once you delete your account, you will not be able to get your data back later.
There is a “Download your data” option. 
If you want to download previous data, click the Download your data option before proceeding to the next step.

Click to delete your account:
In the Delete your service or account option, you’ll find options such as “Delete Google services”, “Download your data”, “Delete your Google account” and “Plan for your account”. 
Here, you need to select the “Delete your Google Account” option from the list to proceed with the account deletion process.

Re-enter your Gmail account password:
After clicking on the “Delete Your Account” option, you will be redirected to a new page where you will need to re-enter your Gmail account password for the next process.
Mark Description:

You will not be able to proceed with the process of deleting your account without flagging instructions.

Click to delete account:
Finally, when all the steps are complete, you will see two options, “Delete Account” and “Cancel”.

Your Gmail account has now been permanently deleted.
